The Rise of Skywalker? More like the Rise of Palpatine or the Rise of Mary Sue. The existence of this movie neglect the meaning of the original and the prequal trilogies. It undermines Anakin's sacrifice and Luke's effort to bring Vader to the light side. Anakin Skywalker was born from the force for nothing, as the one who truly brings the balance in the force is now Rey Palpatine.
No explanation for how the emperor survived the fall in Episode 6. Palpatine somehow becomes all the sith spirits but then get destroyed easily by all the jedi spirits in Rey. Snoke was a puppet of Palpatine but then he was about to kill Rey in Episode 8 while the emperor actually wants to transport his spirit into Rey. After Palpatine restored himself and got back to his state in Episode 6, he suddenly wants to kill Rey and forgot about tranporting the spirit thing. This makes sense no sense at all. We know Palpatine wants Luke to kill him so that he can take over Luke's body in Episode 6. That means he would still need to find a young body to take over even if he returns to a younger age of himself.
How they failed to conclude the Skywalker saga so epically and left so many plot holes is truly beyond me.
