I'm sorry to say but I went with a group of people, all well read in the life of Napoleon. In short, we left the movie less than halfway through because it was so unbelievably boring. It looked like the movie was more concerned with showing period costumes than in telling the story of one of history's greats. Also, the movie entirely skipped over some key and iconic early life experiences of Napoleon's. The movie failed upfront to establish context and, in my opinion, never established its narrative: it was more like looking at some disconnected scenes and that was it. The fact that it was so bad, in and of itself, I think, is a reflection of our current society's disconnects. I can't help but imagine that there was turmoil on the set with maybe one or more participants calling out that this movie was not presenting a unified narrative. Sorry to be so critical but it was a major disappointment, especially when considering how much dramatical historical content they had to work with.
