Slow without the burn..... Joel Egertons performance in this film is so wooden it makes it almost unwatchable. God awful. Time in my life I'll never get back.

Another exquisite gem from Jane Campion. This film explores many human strengths and foibles set amidst an almost otherworldly and breathtakingly brutal landscape. What is first shown to the viewer about each of the main characters is slowly and deliberately changing throughout the film, almost like the removal of veils until you reach that ah ha moment. There will be robust discussions around this film and its many layers of meaning which I’m sure will touch all its viewers in different ways. A terrific exploration of strength, loneliness, masculinity and human struggle, this is not to be missed.

This hard and gritty film pulls no punches but it's worth the watching. The main protagonist struggles with alcohol and drug use and has a violent streak, hence his use by a criminal gang as an enforcer. This beautiful film unfolds 'Arm', ( the enforcers nickname) to us gently, and we are finally left with a portrait of a man, who despite all his misguided choices, is revealed to be a decent and loving man at his very core. Quite profound in its own quiet way...
