I heard about this movie from the teacher in my college, using many of this films scenes as both inspirational material and to give us an understanding of the film-making process.
Now, coming into this movie, only having seen one other Tarantino movie, that being pulp fiction, I had high expectations, that were met accordingly, the characters were fleshed out and believable, the world just as believable.
The story was amazing, the "journey to redemption" was made handled to a T in my opinion, and in the 2.46 hours this movie goes on for, I never once wanted it to speed up.
That being said: why did I give it four stars?
I'm not a big movie buff, neither am I a big enjoyer of Mr. Tarantino's work, so take it with a grain of salt when I say, that the gore, violence and pure unbridled use of the n-nword, got boring a bit quickly.
There were most surely times when the scene did not call for such grotesque use of barbaric speech/actions, and so, at the point when it mattered, that being the end of the movie where the (spoiler) protagonist, Django, gets his revenge, the murdering spree doesn't have any power.
Amazing movie, would watch again, no one movie is ever perfect, because everyone has unique taste.
