I went into the movie with high expectations because I’m a huge fan of Peele. And my expectations weren’t only met, but exceeded. It was freaky, had just the right amount of jokes, and truly made you feel the terror the people on screen felt. It took a well used trope and revived it with life. Even though I had a ton of faith in Peele the thought of an alien horror movie felt cheesy and worn out. But peele was able to make it incredibly unique and truly entertaining. The characters were easy to root for and well flushed out. The chimp plot line helped show you exactly what the purpose of the movie was while also being incredibly jarring and disturbing. Peele played a lot with horrific sounds and was able to make you disturbed with minimal visual gore. It was obvious everything about this movie was done with so much thought and purpose. I knew Peele wouldn’t disappoint but he truly outdid himself. And Keke Palmer deserves a Grammy.
