As an amateur musician (and a huge Beatles fan), I found this documentary extraordinary for a number of reasons.
The first episode was a little boring, but set the stage for the human interactions between the band members.
Episodes 2 and 3 were fascinating. From the music viewpoint, I couldn't believe how much the band screwed around in the studio and you had to wonder if anything would come out of their work. From the human viewpoint they seemed to have resolved their issues (at least temporarily) and were having a blast for most of their time together.
Finally, in episode 3, they went up to the rooftop for their concert and . . . absolutely killed it. I can't even explain this performance after watching their process. They were as tight as a band can be and all their parts were perfect. I can't explain how they perfectly executed all the little changes and intricate parts of the songs or where those details came from.
To put it into perspective, this band went into a studio and screwed around for 3 or 4 weeks, wrote 14 songs and rehearsed an entire album, and then gave a brilliant public performance and recorded it. Mind blown.
The greatest band ever? Yes. What other band would even consider tackling that?
