I got to SEE my childhood imagination on screen! I haven’t played with my Barbies in close to 30 years!! As Barbie 2023 began, I couldn’t just sit and watch- I ran and found one of my first Barbies and I held her to my chest, closed my eyes, and went back to my first Barbie pool that my big brother put together for me. He set it up for me like it was a real miniature dream; the palm trees, the clear and tiny tropical drink glasses, pool lounge chairs lined up beautifully, umbrellas, slide, small pool tables with the tropical drinks and tiny bowls of fruit, and MORE! I opened my eyes after remembering how my little girlfriends and I demolished it from playing with it so much! Ken was there sometimes too. Ha! I got out a hairbrush and dressed her up like I was 10 years old again, looking at her face like I did as a kid. Margot Robbie is pretty much a spot on Barbie look alike! Looking at Margot and back at my Barbie in my hands- I carefully smoothed out my Barbie’s hair and put a simple and elegant dress on her. One of the straps snapped off in the back- EXACTLY what was just a gently perfect example of the movie- imperfections are PERFECTION! I don’t think I’ll ever look at my Barbies the same again! I’ll also always respect these little precious dolls that helped shape my GIRLHOOD and make it so FUN and made me into the WOMAN I’d never want to have become without my Barbie playtime with friends. The strap that came off as I put it on her is what I needed to see- all of we women and girls should ultimately KNOW- we’re imperfect! BUT Barbie helps us GROW and become whatever we want to be! Toward the end of the movie I was looking at my own Barbie’s features, marveling and mentally becoming 7 years old again. Barbie isn’t a BAD toy! PC? Yes! She helps we little girls turn into bright and motivated and poised WOMEN. (I’m sorry to my Barbie I made into Susan Powter, by cutting her hair to the scalp length, putting a work out outfit on her and a sign hanging like a necklace that said, “Stop The Insanity!” Sorry Barbie! Mom was into Susan Powter back in the day!) I wanna go back to my childhood now! Or at least play with my daughter and Barbies. I cannot ever ever lose my imagination and this movie brought that back to my goal in life, as a woman, mother, girl inside, and so much more! Of course I’m sentimental and definitely teary-eyed while watching Barbie 2023 and Margot… Margot Robbie ROCKED BARBIE 2023 movie like she IS the REAL Barbie!!! We can be both Barbie little girls AND grown-up Barbie girls! The dreams and realities don’t END! Thank you Margot, for making Barbie your own, and so immaculately a gentle representation! You became one of my own, playing this role, like you just jumped from my daughter’s Barbie cruise ship or car onto the screen. Wow! 10/10! 100% Perfection! She made Barbie REAL and GOOD. Barbie is pure-hearted and GOOD, just the way Margot Robbie made her too!
