Justin Grant-Duff

Brilliant film about Barcelona gangsters in 1923. In Spanish with subtitles it was a great plot line with plenty of somewhat predictable action scenes. Unfortunately it ran to the usual mob movie format which served to suspend belief a bit. Nonetheless for a foreign film it was well acted by Spaniards telling the history of their country. The girl was brave, tearful and unhappy but she rose to the challenge when called on to be violent. Inevitably the secret cop from Madrid was a wild card from the unknown who came to the rescue of the poor downtrodden workers; and the heroic socialist leader was assassinated for his principles. The multiple murders all stemmed from a corrupt aristocracy bribing a bent police force. Well, well who would have thought?
