As a huge fan of the Halloween franchise, this movie was unfortunately very disappointing. First, the trailers were extremely misleading - they focus on Michael and Laurie, but anyone who has seen the movie knows that they took all those clips from the last 20 minutes of the movie because these aren’t even the main characters in Halloween Ends. They bring in Corey, a babysitter who has zero connection to any past or present Halloween franchise character, and make him the main character. They spent all of Halloween Kills showing how you “can’t kill evil” although everyone insisted that “evil dies tonight”, and this movie depicts Michael as so weak that he needs a sidekick?? In Corey, who has nothing to do with the franchise. Also, are we not going to talk about how Laurie was so paranoid that she made her entire home a secluded bear trap in the 2018 film, spends all of Halloween Kills searching for Michael to kill him, and in this movie she’s just self healed and living a normal life in public? I mean good for her, I am very happy to see that she was somehow able to find closure. But, 40 years is a long time to be extremely paranoid for her to supposedly self heal all on her own in the four years since the end of Halloween Kills, where Michael kills her daughter, but I guess we aren’t talking about that either since there’s only one or two lines in the movie that address it. Since Laurie isn’t even a main character, they give no back story on how she got to that point or what has transpired in the four long years since Halloween Kills other than the writers making JLC deliver a cheesy explanation of the last two movies as if we haven’t seen them already. They had built such a strong foundation for this movie and completely shattered any momentum they had made from the last two movies by creating a movie that has barely anything to do with the two characters who are THE REASON the franchise has been made into so many movies/carried on with tremendous success for over 40 years. Nothing they did with this movie makes sense and there’s so many random plots that aren’t connected at all.
