**Definitely a trigger warning for anyone who is triggered by police violence or racism, i talk more about that at the end**
The writers seemed to hope to accomplish one sentiment: that regardless of what black people do and how black people live, many police officers will always see them as a threat.
Yes, the groundhog day time loop might SEEM inneffective to some, but in my opinion this is the first time that using the time loop tactic has ever been for a real reason. I understood the point. My only complaint would be to add a resolution. I didnt feel that the story wrapped itself up at the end, but that couldve been reflective of the fact that there is still so much work to be done in America. I felt that, even with that metaphor, that the ending could’ve been clearer or written a little better.
The cinematography is BEAUTIFUL and reminiscent of a pixar animation. Both leads are verh strong and have very sweet, kind, likeable characters.
That being said, i STRONGLY suggest that if there is ANY chance you are triggered by police violence or racism, DO NOT watch this. The story itself makes great points, but that doesnt erase the multiple times that you see a black man die on screen at the hands of the police. It’s good, but not so good that it is worth bringing up traumatic stress. You truly do fall in love with these characters, so it can be hard to watch even for people who don’t experience this kind of stress firsthand -- so, especially if you do experience this kind of pain personally, proceed with caution.
