The southeast asian representation was amazing with this one! My family’s face would light up every time they noticed a similar cultural reference to ours and I can’t explain how happy it made my cousin to see someone that looked like her. Brilliant story too, all of the characters were well-written and funny. I’m an adult but this exceeded most comedic films for me. The animation was amazing and one of the most visually-appealing that I’ve seen. The only downside was finding out that majority of the characters were voiced by east asians. I have nothing against them but it doesn’t sit right with me knowing this was a movie meant to put a spotlight on southeast asian culture, considering east asian characters and culture is what makes up of the majority of “Asian representation” in Hollywood. Truly disappointed with that one, I hope they can maybe remake this with so southeast asian voice actors (Hollywood has no excuse really because there are a lot of southeast asian immigrants in the US, especially Filipino ones). I was gonna deduct a star but I feel like that would be unfair considering every other aspect of the movie was good. So much better and unique than all the other animated movies Disney has been releasing these days. Too long to read: WATCH IT YOU WONT REGRET IT
