This book explains why the original grand jury no-billed Officer Pantaleo, the author suggesting that Garner actually succumbed to a fatal asthma attack. This was proved correct during the NYPD administrative trial when the Medical Examiner who performed the autopsy, Dr. Floriana Persechino--who originally ruled that Garner was killed by a chokehold in conjunction with prone restraint chest compression--backpedaled on the witness stand and admitted that he actually died from an asthma attack. Of course, she then tried to save face by insisting that the supposed "chokehold" triggered the asthma attack. As of this review, the judge in the administrative trial, Rosemarie Maldonado, has not yet delivered a verdict. If Pantaleo is not found culpable this time around as well, I'll certainly have no quarrel with Judge Maldonado's decision.
