As a first generation migrant and a parent myself, I believe parents as adults have their own agency to make decisions on their own life. The harder the decisions, the greater they are as human beings. Why the author have to emphasise their contribution by assuming they are some metaphorically shrinking? That’s just some cheap ways to guilt the kids.
