Gamefreak...why? I wanted to really like this pokemon game as it's the next main line game in the franchise, but unfortunate I was pretty disappointed. They made some step forwards in terms of graphics: The pokemon have fur and the clothing on npcs seems to have textures, but they they took a few steps backwards too: a lot of the terrain is blurry and unreadable, the pictures in the pokeboxes are tiny and impossible to see unless you're in handheld, and the animations are still terrible, for instanace pokemon still "slide" like they did in generation 8. In addition to that they decided to add customization features to your characters faces, which is awesome, but they also decided that as a result of adding that in they were going to eliminate your ability to actually customize your character. This is a HUGE turn off for me. We have been able to wear clothing since Generation 5 or 6...and now suddenly I'm force to wear a uniform for the entire game and have no ability to change that? What the hell is the point of having choices in socks, gloves, etc, if you are stuck in ONE color the entire game? There are only 4 uniforms to choose from and 3 out of 4 of them are atrociously hideous. In addition to that they seem to have upped their woke representation: There's muscly women and what appears to be a transgender elite 4 member. That's fantastic, however, they also went overboard with it so much that the game has nothing but gender neutrality everywhere, especially for your character: No skirts, no dresses, no representation at all for people who are feminine or masculine. Just 100% gender neutral pants and shorts. It's great to be inclusive but being inclusive also means you should leave some typical gender stuff in the game too, which they have not. Where's the skirts, the dresses, the coats, etc? Overall, I'm giving the game a pretty poor rating...gamefreak could have and should have done so much better then this, but why would they? The games one of the top grossing franchises out there, of course they'd just do the bare minimum because they know it will sell regardless.
