The reference to death in the title should have given it away - Fukunaga filmed a tribute to late 90s Bond. With many inconsistencies (the DB5 gets T boned by a SUV and the next arial shows no damage at all??), an hour lost fighting bots in no man's land with mega plot armor, shots of depressed workers obligingly farming nanobots - the movie which opened up like a promising continuation of last decade soon felt like Pierce Bronsan's Die Another Day. Fans of franchise will appreciate many Easter eggs but those hoping to see a creative reimagining of Bond from the Director of True Detective and Beasts of No Nation will leave unsatisfied.
