My first complaint is that the set design is historically inaccurate and terribly cheap looking, but that is not even the start of my snags with this series. There are many very obvious cinematic parallels between this series and Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, such as Daphne's undesirable suitor and the easily dislikable main love interest. However many of these comparisons come across cliche-like and almost plagiaristic. Despite being set in heavily patriarchal times, Pride and Prejudice managed to create a strong and empowered female lead, something Bridgerton failed miserably at. Daphne is the quintessential archetype of the patriarchy's "perfect woman" - for goodness sake, she has almost no substantial opinions or characteristics and she has NEVER been even aroused before meeting one specific man??? Now don't even get me STARTED on the god AWFUL sex scenes... I wish dearly to bleach my eyes. DO NOT WATCH BRIDGERTON IT'S A HAUNTED SHOW I TELL YOU
