Disturbed claimed this album would be their "Black Album" in reference to Metallica. In fact, it wasn't their "Black Album" it was their "Saint Anger." They decided to go completely mainstream and create a pop-rock album, completely disenfranchising their entire heavy metal roots fanbase in favor of the new fame and fans pulled in by their Sound of Silence cover. In addition, despite the album being written like a pop CD, it actually failed to chart at #1 on Billboard 200, thus ending their streak of five #1's in a row. In other words - stay true to your roots and you'll go far. But if you betray your real fans for a wider audience and your addiction to fame, you will suffer your folly.
