Purple Giraffe

The animation is pretty like in the first film. Visually appealing. However, I felt the plot was lacking. I’d give the first Inside Out 5 stars but this one (inside out 2) 2 or 3 stars. Joy trying to make her way back to headquarters already happened in the first film. Joy trying to stop Riley from focusing on seemingly negative emotions already happened in the first film. Not sure what envy brought to the table. The trailer gave too much away about the new emotions. Not unpleasant to watch, just a bit boring and repetitive. Although I am in my 20s so maybe it is unfair for me to say it’s boring if it was aimed at children? I never felt the first one was aimed at children but maybe this one was.

The restaurant that the characters eat at is way too bright. I worry that for some people with photosensitivity and sensory issues for example those with astigmatism, autism, adhd, ME/CFS, migraines, chronic headaches, epilepsy etc, this film could be a trigger. However, the film was well acted by both leads. It’s a film that will make you think but was heavier than the mood I was going for when choosing it. Still processing it … Not sure what to make of it…

Enjoyed the series Everyone is beautiful - it’s nice to see people that look relatable / less fake / less like influencers than other casts. This seemed more like people watching than the US one which is more centred on drama. This humanises contestants more - likeable and mature. Good. I want what I watch to be ethically produced. I hope that the alleged issues with the US cast being treated badly by the crew / producers do not apply to the UK version. 🤞 Could the alter episode be a bit of a different format so it seems less mean to those who are rejected there? The concept of the show is so interesting and cool. 3.5 stars.
