Impossible to adapt this masterpiece into a short series, so only got a sense of the original. That's okay. The disappointing part was the lack of authenticity of time / space. While the production is elaborately mounted, the many anachronisms are jarring. A lot of the clothing, browsing in a Calcutta bookstore, mixing of the sexes in social circles and PDA, the list is long. Would have expected better research from a prestigious production and reputed director. Acting quality is variable, with Lata, Savita and Meenakshi probably the only stand outs.
