I loved Vasan Bala's Monica Oh My Darling. The wry situational dark humour of that film had me in splits.
2 prompts to my booking for Jigra were 1) Su4rita's review and 2) Vasan Bala.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the film. I expected an action film with a gripping storyline. The story turned out to be predictable, without any surprise twists which would have kept me second-guessing.
The screenplay seemed rushed and left me confused. Scenes appeared with any clear background or context
Overall view
Pros
1) Standout Performance by Vivek Gomber. His portrayal of a Southeast Asian - Indian origin man is super accurate. I can say it as I live in Singapore.
2) Alia Bhatt and Manoj Pahwa
3) Cinematography
Cons
1) Screenplay
2) Long Runtime
3) Except for Alia and Vendang, every other character pops with without clear context.
4) Poor portrayal of the southeast asian accent of the Inspector Muthu
