I was a huge fan of the books. I don't feel this series does the books any justice. My spouse, who has not read the books, thinks the show is pretty good. The lighting and mood in the show is dark, and depressing. They could have done so much with a different type of camera lighting (think Harry Potter, or any other movie that isn't totally dark and depressing). In this show, Lucy, one of the main characters, is somewhat bossy, angry, and a know it all. In the books, Lucy was a very pleasant girl; I do not care for this new Lucy. As someone who read the books, I find this adaptation terrible. They have distorted this story, and turned it into dark, depressing, moody, garbage.
