Ron Shusett and Dan O' Bannon co-wrote this film, having had success with the film ALIEN in 1979. Stan Winston designed the special fx make-up and Grandpa Bucket, Dale Arden and Freddy Krueger all have supporting parts in this "Little town with a big secret" horror film from 1981.
The film is atmospheric and creepy. The tiny town of Potter's Bluff, an East coast burg that looks like its stuck in the year 1955 seems friendly on the surface, but a large number of residents are going around filming themselves murdering visitors and transients in brutal ways.
Some of the murders are made to look like accidents, but the local Sheriff isn't convinced and thinks that maybe its murder.
Despite the pedigree of talent that contributed to this film, most people don't remember it, or only remember the "twist" ending that comes just shy of making this a cult classic.
Give it a view if you enjoy other horror fare from the 1980's.
