I enjoyed every moment of this game, plays well, the dialogue is entertaining, the game is well polished, nothing mind blowing, but no glitches no bugs. I feel like im playing a movie (because of the dialogue).
Walked into this game with zero expectations, snatched it when it became free on ps plus. I enjoy MCU movies, and GOTG is fun to watch.
Gameplay 7.5/10
You play the game as star lord, in 3rd person view, the rest of the gang they tag along with u throughout the game but you dont control them except u can call for their special abilities which are very useful and unique to each character. U spend reward points to upgrade ur character and the rest of the guardians so u get more special abilities. The fights are almost chaotic but not overwhelming. But its more like u throw everything u have on them with little strategy to it. Boss fights are ok. Again no real strategy u just throw everything u have on them.
Boss fights are unique and satisfying for each. You get an excellent variety in the enemies you fight with better than average variety in their fight mechanics. The problem is its almost chaotic to tell what they are actually doing. Every now and then, you will face a bullet sponge enemy but not to the point that makes u hate the game.
You feel like the game is giving u a chance to choose what to do next, but in reality, its a linear gameplay, and ur choices only affect dialogue and cinematic cutscenes. Not bad though.
Puzzles are very simple, but I feel they added time with little value to them.
Graphics 7.5/10
Well polished, not much depth to it, pretty much what you would expect from a AAA game. No major glitches or bugs. Rarely u will notice a disappearing building, or an equipment that glitches in and out of the world during cutscenes. Nothing major really.
I wished Peter Quill had Chris Patts looks but I guess they cheaped out with licensing. The rest of the charecters they did an excellent job and much more.
Characters 9/10
Back stories embedded into the game without affecting the flow of gameplay. So you can play the game and learn about the characters even if u have no idea.
Soundtrack 10/10
Headphones and hometheater
Excellent sound effects, I had so much fun when I played on my 5.1 system. From The whispers to the loud booms. You feel them all.
The soundtrack is 80s hardrock, and I think u can utilize ur own soundtrack if u want.
Dialogue is clear and entertaining, u can add subtitles that u can customize how it projects on the screen without ruining the gameplay. I really dont need subtitles unless im using headphones.
All in all its a positive experience, I think the game is underrated. Its either I was living under a rock, or developers really did not hype us for it at all. This is a game worth playing 100%. Im more than halfway through the game and its only been a week since I started playing it (Im a busy family guy) but Im hoping to finish the game this weekend.
