Hope World is timeless. "Daydream" and "Airplane" are great songs and have fantastic, high-quality music videos. I definitely recommend watching them. j-hope released "Blue Side" full version 2021 as a gift to fans on the three year anniversary of the mixtape. The song is so pretty and really transports you to a beach or to some other beautiful memory you have of the past. I immediately loved this song on Hope World. Both versions are fan favorites. A translation and analysis of the song from a Korean-American professor named a verse from "Blue Side" the most lyrical and poetic of all BTS/BTS members' songs.
If you are not a Korean speaker I'd highly recommend searching for the song title + doolset on google. You can't judge the lyrical genius of j-hope based on the few, sparse English words he uses. Please look up the translations at least once. He's the son of a literature teacher after all. "Piece of Piece" has become one of my favorite songs. It sounds different from any other song I've ever heard. "Hangsang" was amazing to see performed live. I think everyone agrees that we could all use a longer version of "Baseline."
Hope World is meaningful and personal to j-hope. He was fully involved in the album production. He delved into producing as well as writing, vocals, vocal arrangement, rap arrangement, chorus, keyboard, and synthesizer. He also worked as a recording engineer for the album.
I find a lot of meaning and comfort in the album's themes and lyrics. j-hope's clever lyrics, literary references, and sonic sensibilities are unique to j-hope. A DJ in Amsterdam played a song from Hope World in a club and when a surprised j-hope fan approached the DJ, the DJ said that their fellow DJs know and love "Hope World." I'm not surprised that DJs worldwide like the album. j-hope is an accomplished dancer himself and uses dance as one of the lenses he views music production from.
Although the album is only about 20 minutes long, you really get a sense of where he came from, who j-hope is, and where he's going forward as a solo artist.
From the initial "underwater sounds" in the first track "Hope World" you are immersed in his upbeat world. At times he delves into serious and personal themes in the lyrics, but sonically the album is so much fun that it's impossible to not get hyped or dance to his songs.
I listen to this album every single day. It gets me ready for the day. I also really love his debut album, Jack in the Box, and I look forward to his next album Hope on the Street Vol 1. and docuseries on Prime Video. Thank you j-hope.
