Astounding book! It is a river passing easily, at times, but turns into sudden turmoil! The author differentiates better right and wrong, he is tough when he writes about evil and so smooth when writing about good. Choosing his vast vocabulary, he creates a symphony that starts as Beethoven's fifth symphony knocking on the door, then turns to sweat cool music! Astounding read !

Well, it is a readable book, in the sense of looking at period of time trying to discover the impossibility of its being.. Taha Hussain draws a line between pre_ Islam and post_ Islam. Jahiliyyah is not only a doubtful Era, but it didn't exist at all! And he insists that the Quran is ,as it were, safe and can be understood! All of a sudden, when we cross the line , something happens, and Arabs have a language totally new ! To say that about Homer and the Iliad and the Odyssey, means nothing. The poems are there! And it is impossible to fabricate thousands of poems by Islamic and post Islamic tellers, let them be two or twenty! And it is not acceptable thesis . During the Umayyad period about seventy years Hegira to have poets like al_Akhtal and Jarir and al_Farazdaq to pop in from no base before. And let us mention that explaining verses of the Quran without having a high and huge platform in pre_ Islamic Era!
