It's like I was watching the story about the exonerated five all over again. It had many similarities to "When They See Us". I was brought back to the scenes when Korey Wise was held in solitary confinement and nearly losing his mind! That experience could break a person and leave them a shell of who they once were.
I was saddened by the story, but even more determined to fight for criminal justice reform. The system is a wreck and needs to be fixed to stop painting certain segments of the population in a proverbial corner that they can't get out of.
The level of apathy of most of the people in the story blew my mind! Even the "victim" of the crime was apathetic and emotionless about Brian's plight as a felon and registered sex offender. She had no idea what consequences her lie caused. But justice has been served. Thank God!
