What a disappointment. If this story was supposed to be uplifting and inspiring, it wasn’t. I actually was getting a bit depressed at how the main character’s life had unfolded. And then I even questioned if Alice was the main character because she seemed to be way overshadowed by Margery. But even Margery, in the end succumbed to the haters and shriveled into a shell of herself-I feared she wouldn’t make it. The ending was like a bad TV show, giving us updates on the characters lives. The only believable thing in the story was the corruption, politics and hypocrisy of the small town south. I felt no satisfaction or resolve at the end.
