All in all, this movie had such a positive impact when I was a child. Every Saturday, it would be The Wiz, The Last Dragon, followed by the Color Purple.
It seems cheesy now since the "Special Effects" are from 1985, however that doesn't detract from the movie in my humble opinion. What matters to me is that the movie has aged with me, I can now appreciate the adult jokes and some of the undertones.
When I was a kid it was a man of color kicking butt, now as an adult its a an awesome representation of everything awesome about the 80's, and everything awesome about growing up black in that time frame.
