To appreciate the series I had to get into that frame of mind. The year is 1930, place is Lahore in the undivided India. That was pre-Lata mangeshkar era, pre-AIDS era. An era when cars and Victorias (buggies) both were there. Electricity was there but lanterns and oil lamps were also there. Polygamy was a matter of honour, jewellery was heavy weight, fabrics were grand. Freedom struggle was there so it was an era when concepts, mental makup was changing everyday. Once I got into that frame of mind heeramandi became a masterpiece.
