My Take-
Man the smartest being on the planet is under the verge of an apocalyptic destruction. A rebellion of mankind and the animal kingdom. Zoo by James Patterson is a science fiction novel set up in the twenty-first century world. A scientist named Jackson Oz discovers the rise of the animal kingdom against humanity. When disregarded by other scientists and politicians,he marries Chole and works together on this HAC theory. After 5 years, animals totally divert from their usual hunting techniques and move towards cities killing man, women and children. They are in rage. No military has the power to fight it back. Dogs and cats are killing their owners, rats from the sewers are attacking and feeding on human flesh. Every animal, every insect are now predators and humans are the prey. What's the reason behind these terrifying attacks? Can humans be saved from these utter destruction? Let's find out.
For me it was an amazing read. It was my first sci-fi book and I totally loved it. Being a student from a science background (specially Chemistry) it's easy to understand the science behind the rise of HAC. It's totally worth reading it. The pacing of the book is good, and keeps you hooked till the end.
The ending is perfect. The author's choice to make the world a zoo where humans fight against animals and against each other to survive is the reality back in ages. Humans can be the smartest being but still they are only dust against the force of nature. A small change can turn them upside down.
