Just watched megalopolis. This is already a piece of cinema history and I am curious to revisit the metascore in a few years when the film will have matured.
The story follows two visions of the future, and as humanity enters a new century and millenium (it's only 24 years into our third millenia), it is the right time to ask the question the film posit to the audience, do we want a world of concrete and metal - the same material we have build our unsustainable way of life - do can we dream (fable) of something new, make out of something a little bit magical (megalon).
And aptly the movie never answers the question, up until the end we are kept on our toes f the great human tragedy, will we overcome the odds and is megalon really the best choice for us.
One thing is sure, we are not yet at the abyss but we are close to it and this is the right time to think our options, thank ou Mr Coppola for the wake up call.
Beside the message acting and photography of the movie are fantastic (in the film genre sense of the word) and I loved it. Considering alll the trouble FF had to go through to get this out of the editing suite, I call it a tour de force.
If you love cinema, and to think, watch this.
