Spoilers….
What a spectacle! The score was immense, bringing a chill down your spine alongside the jaw dropping scenery. Costner can still write a brilliant screenplay and fill the characters with an abundance of charm. One of the story lines follows the pilgrims heading west on the American frontier to find their own town but they encounter the threat of the native Indians protecting their lands. Eventually, we shall see them settle in the Town called Horizon; I can’t wait for that. It is a saga, and this is laying the backstory of all the characters.
This is a standard of cinema that has not been reached in a long time and Costner has set the bar up high again.
Ultimately this story follows a few characters. The plot thickens with some great filmography and acting from some A listing stars. Every single character gave depth and a breath of fresh air into movie culture; you were able to feel what the people would have been going through in a time such as that. The costumes were age appropriate for that era and well put together, from the Native Indians, Cowboys and Army of the time.
The history behind the movie highlights what the foundation of modern America is born from.
Personally, I feel it wasn’t long enough, but Costner did a great job of keeping it authentic and realistic. Three hours flew by in the movie theatre, and I truly could have watched part two straight off the bat.
Truly epic tale that I cannot wait for more of. This is a 11/10 from me and I wish the saga good luck as I want to watch every single movie in theatres. A spectacle.
