The fascinating and rewarding stories of these people living in tenement housing Brooklyn in the 60s, mix of church folk, drug dealers, battling mobs over territories. Its filled with side splitting humor, exquisitely tender relationships in the midst of suspenseful murder attempts by hit men. My first James McBride novel. It will not be my last. Cecil Hoffman
