This show had a lot of promise...Which it failed to deliver. I have not really played the fallout games (I got bored playing one and never got far).
Unfortunately, the same thing has happened with this show but i forced myself to watch all 8 episodes. I'm going to try to avoid spoilers with this review.
The twists were super predictable and the writing lazy. I felt like they were trying to follow a template and it felt like a cookie cutter show. Two things I was reminded of were Hero of A Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell and how The Witcher kept separate storylines and told separate stories. Fallout tries to tell separate stories and fails spectacularly at making it interesting. So I think the writing for the story is terrible overall. And a note to Bethesda if that is the backstory to the games, then the writing for the games is bad too (sorry Fallout game fans).
The special effects seem good at first but there was a lot of bad cgi too. So I can only give them a mediocre rating on the special effects because they were so overused or used badly at times (sometimes shots were "beautiful" though).
Acting...no. Sorry. You can defend the acting on the show to your hearts content but I just can't give any of them a good rating...Possibly the writing/directing fault...The only thing I can say is we do get to see an evolution of one character but even that is not great...if you've ever seen the show "New Girl" I feel like a lot of the acting is inspired by that show somehow...
I was never scared during this show or had any reaction at all except for the dog and that is all i'm going to say about that to avoid spoilers.
Overall the show is mediocre at best and tragically bad at worst imo. It was a waste of my life to watch it but my friends insisted it was good and that i had to watch it so we could discuss...
