This show is solid. I enjoy the characters, especially Qimir. The most threatening villain Star Wars has had in a long time. I love the hint of horror they've given him.
I've always enjoyed it when the Jedi's beliefs are called into question, and this show does it very well. Jedi are trained to deny their human desires - to stand above it, if you will. Episode 7 shows how Sol absolutely failed as a Jedi. We found out that he was the catalyst of all the conflict within the show. I mean, I knew that he wasn't being honest, but I didn't realize how bad he screwed up. He weaseled his way into the force cult's home, killed the twin's mother, chose to save Osha over Mae, and then still had the audacity to blame Mae for it all. Talk about the lies of the Jedi.
I don't think anyone can forget episode 5 and the awesome lightsaber battle that came with it. Qimir's gauntlets and helmet that knock out the sabers and use of the force cripple the Jedi fighting against him. The choreography was exciting and unexpected. On top of that, the show gave us certain death. No question of whether those Jedi are coming back. Qimir was absolutely brutal, and I loved it. I watched this episode twice.
Is the show perfect? No - what show is? The first episode showed a fire in space, explain that one to me. But I can ignore this and find true enjoyment in everything else. There are lots of practical effects and the cinematography gives me a sense of nostalgia for the older Star Wars films. I don't really need a bunch of crazy CGI and special effects. Those can lose their shine after a while. I respect the simplicity of this show and if you go into it with the expectation of having fun, I think you will enjoy it too.
