After watching 'Handsome Siblings' my first Chinese drama, I saw ' The Rise of Phoenixes' as a suggestion and so I gave it a try. I can say it is the best tv drama I ever watched. Reading the subtitle for a 70 episodes show seems like a drag but this was not an issue because everything about this show is very captivating. The setting, the wardrobe, the music, the actors, and omg the characters are AMAZING! I now love Chen Kun on and off camera lol. I occasionally go back and rewatch certain episodes because it is so freaking GOOD! I love Ning Yi and Feng Zhiwei relationship as difficult it was for them because of Feng Zhi Wei's oath to her mother. I really wished they had a happy ending because they have been through so much. It would have been lovely for Feng Zhiwei to be by Ning Yi side as he took the throne. The last 10 episodes were an emotional roller coaster for me, I laughed, I was happy, I cried and then I was sunk in sadness. After watching the last episode I kept thinking about how sad the ending was and how closely this is related to reality. Imagine having to end your life because you cannot be with the one you love because of a promise you made with another person you also love. that sucks!!! Please I really need a season 2.
