I love to watch this movie for the style of it, especially, it’s a visual delight. Every detail is so beautiful, it’s the 60’s at its absolute highest & best. From gorgeous Julianne Moore, to perfectly turned out Colin Firth, it’s a mid-century design treat. Of course, directed by Tom Ford, what else would you expect?

Just one of the best movies about falling in love. Cary Grant is at his most suave and appealing, and the chemistry he has with Deborah Kerr is perfect. It’s a total tear-jerker though-so have lots of tissues ready. 10 out of 10.

Unfortunately, The Grey Man was totally predictable, using the copycatting the basic story lines of Bourne, Bond, & Boring. Just a lot of cliché characters doing the same off stuff. With such a terrific cast, I wanted to like it, and a lot of guys will love it, it’s supremely violent, and action packed. Ryan Gosling is kind of flat affect, & Captain America, Chris Evans, as the cold blooded, sociopathic assassin is like every other action movie cold blooded sociopathic assassin. The story jumped around not making much sense. I’m sorry but I really found no redeeming qualities, It gave me a huge headache, and I couldn’t wait til it was over. My husband, on the other hand, liked it a lot, but said they went a little overboard on the killing.

Phantom Thread is a beautifully shot movie, rich with textures, deep colors, and evocative of another era. The main character is a master dress designer who’s career is his whole life. And he is indulged to be this creative genius who is meticulous and who controls all aspects of his life. Until he meets a young woman who, as his muse, asks more of him than he can give. Their relationship is complicated. So, it is a story about flawed but intense people, creative dedication, and control, that comes to a surprising conclusion. I loved the intensity of the sewing scenes, the fabulous fashions, and the precision required to make exquisite couture.
