I feel like they did a terrific job at respecting the Chinese culture in this movie, as well as making it more realistic (and the fight scenes are amazing). However, they took out Li Shang and MooShoo, as well as most of the original musical numbers (they still kept some of the original melodies but they weren't as pronounced in the film. And there was no "Mr.I'll make a man out of you" either). They also added in a complete new character similar to Mulan who has been shunned because she can fight, and while she was a cool character, it deviated from the original a lot. While I think it's awesome that they added in more of the original culture, they also took away from the original plot very much. It still is a good movie, but it's not the best it could have been in my opinion.
