You pick up a book compulsively out of sheer boredom. You don’t like the look of it . You judge it by its cover. You peruse it languidly as pages turn like a dreary hot summer evening in an Asian town. You skim over the characters without much emotions. You don’t want to invest in them as your initial judgement stifles you. Then suddenly, comes a point, a point of no return, where without even your knowledge the book has thoroughly consumed you. It begs to become unputdownable anymore. Such were my feelings with regard to this movie. Of course, I love Liam for his blending into his character with finesse and grit. But this was different. Here it felt as if it was homecoming for him. He didn’t have to push himself too far to put up the facade of Finbar Murphy . I have traveled in northern Ireland many times and every time I come out with awe for its sheer rugged beauty. Nature has a strange way to impose itself in its inhabitants. The Irish are no less rugged with steely characters than their surroundings. This is a great movie encompassing many emotions and leaves you wondering about how far you would go to stand by your choices. I loved it.
