Middle-aged hurtling towards old, divorced, hetero (cis?) white woman here. When I decided to watch this show (on a whim, out of curiosity, for whatever reason I don't know) what I knew about RuPaul was precisely that his name is RuPaul and he is a drag queen. I had no idea what he looked like either as a man OR a woman. I had never seen him perform in drag, act, or sing. I am now a fan.
This show is delightful. It's down-to-earth, honest, and moving. It's over the top when it needs to be, but not obnoxiously so. I laughed and I cried. I set out to watch one episode to "try it out" and wound up binge watching the entire season. I received an education.
RuPaul is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen, and if his nature is anything like Robert/Ruby in real life, he is the most lovely man I have ever seen.
I don't write reviews but I truly felt compelled to write this one. This show is truly worth watching and I may very well watch it again. I sincerely hope that there is a second season.
