Joker 2 falls short of expectations in almost every way. While the first movie was a thought-provoking and intense character study, this sequel feels unnecessary and forced. The plot lacks focus, dragging through long, tedious scenes that add little to Arthur Fleck’s character or the overall narrative.
The film seems to struggle with what it wants to be—failing as both a psychological thriller and a commentary on societal issues. Instead of building on the complexities of the original, Joker 2 rehashes old themes without offering anything new or insightful. Even Joaquin Phoenix's performance, which was stellar in the first film, feels repetitive and uninspired here, as if he’s just going through the motions.
Overall, Joker 2 is a disjointed sequel that tries too hard to shock but ends up feeling hollow and pretentious. It’s more of a pale imitation of the original than a worthy successor, making it a major disappointment for fans.
