I don't know how this has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. As a person who is a survivor of emotional and physical abuse, the protagonist does a poor job of showing anything emotional. She left her child in the car so much in so many dangerous situations, it seemed like whomever wrote this wasn't quite getting neither parent was a good choice. I will say, the other characters did a great job. The side characters and especially Andie MacDowell, who really stole the show. I mean, I learned her name because of how well she did in this role. She committed to it. You'll get through it. It will flow but this is just skimming the surface of a very serious issue and it looks so much nicer than reality on EVERY level through EVERY process. Maybe that's because a man directed it. I don't know, but it failed to hit the mark with someone who has been there but if you like Hallmark movies, this is for you.

I'm a Tudyk fan and I was willing to give a bit of a puffed up review because of it but this show didn't need it. Not ONE bit of puff. Sure, Alan is amazing because? Well, he's Alan Tudyk but in this role? Wow. Tudyk brings you back to the days of him tripping balls in Death at a Funeral. He's locked IN to the character to the point where you see him AND the character he actually IS at the same time. Brilliant! Tudyk is so gloriously funny and spot on in this role, my sides hurt from laughing so hard but the rest of the cast? That's what surprised me! They're just as smart, just as well-timed, and the writing? Did I mention brilliant? I'm not a Sci-fi fanatic (only if it's above and beyond good) but I LOVE Resident Alien. And that's the great thing about GREAT anything -- the genre doesn't matter. If you show up, you'll get a guaranteed good time. I cannot wait for the entire season to come out. You, gentle viewer, can go to Syfy and watch episodes now and then wait impatiently like me for the next. Beware: your sides really WERE hurt and your cheeks may as well. Simply the best comedy I've seen in many years of any genre. Five happy stars!

I went to the drive-in to see this film as I truly enjoyed the first but it was pretty terrible. While I love John Krasinski and hoped his writing would hold up, it fell flat. No actor could have saved the script, which led to a cliffhanger I can't care enough about to watch another. I realize we're all wanting new films & summer blockbusters but this was subpar. Unrealistic plot twists & coincidences, the most unlikely of heroes, which again, made no sense, & a true waste of the talent there was to work with. Besides the "scary" movie startling jumps, this film had nothing else except ridiculous scenarios characters get themselves into for no other reason than to "take a look". Just truly disappointing. Hopefully if Krasinski gets the greenlight for another, he'll use a real writer to help him kill his darlings & follow basic rules, but I couldn't sit through another.
