L4D nostalgia hits hard playing this. But overall it's a good game (both stand alone and as a successor to L4D and L4D2). FPS aspect is fun and running and gunning is great. No slow and steady Tom Clancy business. Equally the gun upgrades are great and the variety of guns and side arms, plus tools, bombs etc make it fun to play and play again. Levels are well built and acts really take me back to L4D. But not perfect. Solo let's it down. Massively. There is just no actual solo progression. And AI is okay, but should scale their weapons each act or something. Also no dual wielding pistols!!!!!! Specials enemies are generally over spawned imo. They seem to appear in 3s and 4s of the same type which is a bit rubbish. Mix it up for sure but the same type feels lazy. Also - OFFLINE PLAY PLEASE!!!!! And lastly... Why is there no split screen! I know it's old school but this is a game prime for the split screen resurgence we need! I've local co-op'd every L4D and it's a bit disappointing.
