Before I go on, yes, I've seen the movie. I was giving it a chance. Just letting you know that.
All I have to say is what in the actual hell did I just watch? This movie is genuinely disgusting to a point I had to pause the film and gag a few times. How gods green earth did Netflix gives this the green light? The 11-year-old girls, that's right, 11-year-old girls tweaking, swearing, acting like their teens, talking to boys that are older than them, this list can go on. The movie, an 11-year girl named Amy, who I believe is Muslim (correct me if I'm wrong), discovers a group of girls in a dance crew who dances and dresses inappropriately for their age. Amy joined them to get away from her religious family. All story short, they very messed up stuff.
When they got to the dance competition, the crowd was disgusted. Then Amy realizes what she's doing is wrong and return her family to get away from the toxics girls and hang out with kids who like her just the way she is. I like the ending.
I understand what the movie was trying to do that adolescence are often influenced what's on the internet, social media, Youtube, etc. And become what they have been affected. While I agree with the message the director is trying to present, it got a twisted up.
The fact that they had they had addition these young girls to do these actions is disgusting to me. I feel like there could have been another way to show this without exposing young girls like they way they did. And stuff like this is NEVER okay. I may not have kids, but I do have a cousin who turn 12 recently and this movie made me think about her. I felt sick.
In conclusion to this review, I found this movie hard and disturbing to watch. Their are creeps out here in this who would finds this enjoying this. I don't care if this movie won awards for best picture or whatever. It makes me sick this has 90% on rotten tomatoes.
