It's weird to think that the Last Crusade was meant to be the last Indiana Jones film. Or the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. But here we are, with the final-final film, the Dial of Destiny.
What can I say? Plenty of memorable moments, as well as some old faces returning was a nice touch, but it was getting a bit flat the more I watched it. Harrison Ford isn't a young man anymore. As best as he tried to make it fit, he started to feel like more of a "background character" as Indiana Jones, compared to Helena Shaw, played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. It's not to say that the action was bad. Honestly, some of the action scenes, plus the chase in Morocco was spectacularly shot.
However, the story itself fell flat near the end, and it started to make little sense. A few scenes felt like the comedy was a bit forced, and there was one scene which felt a bit... bland.
But, it's nice to know the film series of Indiana Jones is finally over. Just a shame this film feels forgettable compared to the main three. But, it's definitely better than the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Happy retirement, Indiana. If only you had retired sooner.
