It was ok overall. Not better than the original.
Seemed like the movie went thru several scripts as they plot was all over the place. Villains are merely a plot device and came and went without doing much of anything. The big "twists" was obvious and played out.
For positives: Catherine O Hara was fun. Enjoyable over the top performances by several actors. Lots of practical effect by today's standards. Some laughs and audience chuckles.

Not perfect but really fun! I had the same giddy joy playing the OG version as a child. Im eagerly waiting for an expansion DLC or sequel game in another region.
