I'm a very big fan of Mario and the ICONIC games.
But this movie wasn't as good, which, I would expect coming from a childrens' movie.
Some of the jokes were pretty bad. Like not cringey bad, but they just didn't make any sense or they just fell flat. I feel like we didn't get to know much about princess Peach or more of Bowsers past life. I felt like I, personally, needed to know more context, especially for Peach's. The movie scene's moved way to fast, and I couldn't even focus on one scene before the scene would change and a whole new topic would come up.
The whole movie is just really fast. I also felt like it was gonna be about the game, not two plumbers literally. I feel like they could've made it into more of a game then a sobstory. I honestly hate how animated it is. Like it's too much. I wish we could dial it back a bit and switch back to animation like Megamind or the Croods.
The family part was so relatable though, especially with the Dad criticizing the oldest and just blaming the oldest wen the younger brother was actually dragging the oldest down, PERFECTLY RELATBLE, that part made me laugh considering my own family. The siblings love for one another was phenomenal and very sweet, I loved that.
Jack Black did an AMAZING job as Bowser, I didn't even recognize his voice until I saw his name in the credits! And the plumbing commercial was very good! Especially with the actress in the commercial saying "The only thing you didn't drain was my bank account" and then looking at the producers like "what the heck?!" That was a pretty good joke that made me laugh.
All and all, this movie is more for kids (I would say 12 and younger), and it is enjoyable or a fun movie to watch with the family! Three stars!
