A good movie. Perhaps the first half is difficult and somehow confusing to watch, but once the movie focuses on the relationship between Mike and Rafo, it improves and it is very enjoyable. The sequence in the chapel when it is raining outside is quite moving and impressive, I think. Highly recommended.

I had watched 'L'amore molesto' and read other Elena Ferrante's novels, so more or less I knew what to expect from 'The Lost Daughter.' I was not disappointed. The film touches unpleasant topics, but is adult and thought-provoking. Highly recommended. Great work behind camera by Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Considering the bad reviews I had read, I must say I was nicely surprised. The movie starts very well, and then the middle part is a little slow and boring, but just because it IS a slow movie that takes its time to develop the story and the characters. The ending is very intense (the scene with the teacher in the locker room is fantastic), and, overall, it gives the sensation of having watched a solid, serious horror movie. Highly recommendable.

An impressive film. Unsettling and very disturbing. The third act is fascinating.
