I don't have much to say about this show. As a casual viewer, I thought what I watched was entertaining. As someone who read the original comics, I think this adaptation pales in comparison. It departs quite far from the source material without justifying it or leading to anything interesting, just silly mayhem. The writer of the comics, Garth Ennis also wrote The Boys, and while that adaption show has also departed from the comic's source material, it is fantastic in it's own right. I mention the boys as an example of an adaptation does not need to be strictly loyal to the source material to be great. Preacher the show just wasn't great. The comics are amazing though and I highly recommend them, would not recommend the show.

It was alright. As a diehard spiderman fan, I could not help but feel I was being marketed too in a very direct and obvious fashion. I reflected on how the Disney corporation is taking over the world and this felt like the result of a capitalist regime communicating through it's hand under a very, very well crafted puppet, attempting to manipulate me into a long term relationship. Fortunately my life is an endless nightmare, and I have become attached to discomfort- and I held onto that throughout the nearly 3 hour runtime., as if it was the one thread of reality getting me through a an advanced VR system- almost like the last movie really. My discomfort and distrust of the Disney corporation was my Spider Tingle. Too long DID NOT READ? It was fine. Good movie. I liked it a whole lot, but did not love it the way I love Spider man 2. It was however, one of the most ambitious uses of an IP and it's history that has ever been made.

One of the more overlooked Batman titles. I think it was ahead of it's time and will eventually catch on as one of the great Batman stories- though Batman takes a backseat for a large portion of the series. The artwork is incredible, though the action scenes are a bit clunky, the art is so pretty that it never stops being enjoyable to read. The characters are all very cool. This may be the best itteration of Batgirl, the most original version of Robin I've ever seen, and the main villain may be based off the joker, however she is an original standalone character with an excellent presence in the panels. If you want a short read that's been written and illustrated with love, I highly recommend reading all 4 issues of Thrillkiller, you'll be glad you read it.

Berserk as a whole is the sort of story that as I read it, feels like something important. A tale of humanity, strength and weakness, life and death, love and loss and it transcends the pages it's written and drawn upon. This anime is the best adaptation of such a work, and a good jumping in point for someone to become familiar with the series. Note: There are also various edits of this anime that might appeal to those who prefer more modern editing.
