Brilliant performance by Cate Blanchett and Field's direction draws into her character's life but holds you at a distance as her tragedy unfolds. Great film but not Destined for mass popularity because of the setting and themes: power and its price; human envy and the responsibilities of love, set in the world of classical music. I suspect at some point, it will be recognized as the masterpiece that it is.
